Arched Window Shutters fit converted factory window

Converted buildings often pose challenges when transforming a former industrial building into a home. Most people want to keep that industrial feel and keep as many existing features as possible. This converted warehouse in Inverness, Scotland posed precisely those types of challenges.
Over coming whether or not to keep the exposed brick was not as much as a problem as the window dressing. By keeping the brick, but giving it a fresh coat of paint, the customer was concerned about draughts from the existing arched windows. They wanted to keep the arch shape and maintain that commercial feel but still be able to live in their property.
A family friend had shutters from The Glasgow Shutter Company for their home and had put the idea of shutters across. Specialty shaped shutters such as an arch is a great idea as there aren’t so many strict rules to shutters as there are to other window coverings.
Curtains and blinds have to be hung in a certain way and would have to be fitted out side of the arch other wise they simply wouldn’t work, but this automatically loses the arch shape. Arched shutters or other shaped shutters are fantastic in that they retain the shape of the window.
These full height arch shutters for windows snugly fit the arch and when the panels are folded back they will rest against the exposed brick wall.
Shutters, being made from wood (a natural insulator) fit the aperture perfectly and can be caulked into place to seal any gaps between the brick and the shutter. Giving some fantastic protection against draughts.
Despite their name, The Glasgow Shutter Company covers areas all over Scotland and can offer a free non obligatory quote if you contact a member of their team.
