Shutter Shapes & Styles for inside windows

Initially many different phrases are used to describe plantation shutters; they can be referred to as Colonial shutters, American shutters, plantation blinds, …… the list goes on. But ultimately they are the same thing, fitted in tens of thousands of homes across the UK every year.

One of the reasons plantation shutters have become increasingly popular for interior windows is their versatility, they can literally be made to fit any window shape and style.  Although there is no so such thing as a regular sized window, there are certainly some regular terms used by all shutter companies to describe the styles of shutters available to you.

There are three standard shutter design options available for your windows. Full height shutters as the name suggests, are shutters which cover the full height of your window. Tier on tier shutters give you independent top and bottom panels.  Café Shutters are half height shutters, which leave the top of your windows un-shuttered.

If you have an awkward or unusually shaped window, then plantation shutters can offer you a solution in spaces where most blinds and curtains can not.
